Why Jay Hovey?

When people ask, “Why you?” The answer is simple: I am a conservative, Christian Republican with a proven record of defending the values that make Alabama and District 27 great.

I have fought for our children, both born and unborn, and their right to a quality education. I have defended our Second Amendment rights. I have stood against government overreach at every level.

I vote the way I do because it reflects what I believe. It is not about what I can gain, what I owe someone, or what someone owes me. It is not about ego or power. It is about doing what is right for District 27 and the people of Alabama.

I have built relationships and collaborated with others to create a stronger Alabama. I have spent my entire life serving others, never looking to see what I could get from them.

So, if you want to know why me, that is my answer: character counts. Conservative values count. And having a proven track record matters. I hope you earn your support and vote on Election Day!

Faith

Jay grew up in the Beauregard community's Providence Baptist Church, where he met his wife Anna in the youth program. Seven years later, Dr. Rusty Sowell, the church's current senior pastor, married them. Jay serves as a deacon at Providence, and Anna sings in the choir, teaches in the children's choir, and Sunday school programs. "Christian conservative" isn't a campaign slogan for Jay Hovey. It's who he is.

Family

Jay Hovey was born and raised in South Lee County, Alabama. His father is an Opelika High School graduate and a third-generation small-business owner, and his mother is a graduate of Auburn High School and a full-time mom who went on to become a full-time educator. Raised in a small farmhouse in Marvyn with his two younger brothers, selflessness and service were fundamental principles of his life from an early age.

Service

Jay worked as an Auburn University student firefighter to put himself through college. He is a proud Eagle Scout and was an Auburn councilmember before joining the Alabama Senate. He has a lifetime of service to his community, including roles with the Alabama Small Business Advisory Commission, United Way of Lee County, Kiwanis Club, the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, and the city of Auburn Greenspace Advisory Board.
